Summary
The Buffalo Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring Buffalo related programs being run within Mistawasis Nêhiyawak are administered smoothly and effectively. The Buffalo Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the planning, execution, and management of several buffalo related programs (Buffalo Trace to Land Water Sky, Bringing Family Buffalo Home, and Rematriation of Buffalo to Mistawasis), ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and according to program objectives.
This role involves collaboration with different teams, stakeholders, and participants to meet the program goals while ensuring compliance with program and funder requirements. Duties may include a wide range of tasks such as planning meetings, organizing files, preparing documents, facilitating events, leading correspondence, making travel arrangements, and assisting with project management. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office software is required. Communication and interpersonal skills are important for working with other Mistawasis departments and external contacts.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support planning and implementation of program goals, timelines, and strategies
- Coordinate day-to-day operations of key initiatives, including Buffalo Trace to Land Water Sky and Bringing Family Buffalo Home
- Organize meetings, events, and maintain stakeholder communication
- Track program progress and adjust plans as needed
- Manage resources, budgets, equipment, and supplies
- Communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders
- Respond to inquiries and provide participant and team support
- Collect data and prepare reports for the Lands Advisory Committee
- Identify and resolve logistical, financial, or personnel challenges
- Support and train program staff and volunteers
Qualifications
- Experience in program coordination or project management.
- Organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of budget management.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Work Environment
- Typically office-based with occasional travel required.
- May involve working flexible hours depending on program needs.
- Remote work may be permitted.

- Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Must provide a current, original, Canadian Criminal Record Check (CPIC), as a condition of employment.
