Councillor Leslie Pechawis
Biography
Leslie Pechawis has been a councillor at Mistawasis Nêhiyawak for 17 years. He currently holds the portfolio for Lands and Justice.
Councillor Pechawis is an alumnus of Meadow lake National Indian Forestry Institute where he obtained a degree in forestry. He has launched forestry programs in Mistawasis, including tree planting, forest management, and reforestation.

During his time in office, Councillor Pechawis sat on the Bingo Committee. The committee has had great success in raising money for the youth in the community to create opportunities for them to become involved in sports. In addition, he expanded Mistawasis Nêhiyawak’s communications by launching the CHEC 93.7 radio station to keep members informed.
Outside of his responsibilities as a councillor, Leslie is a motor vehicle mechanic and completed his first year of training. In addition, he is a lead guitarist in a band and creates woodwork.
