SUMMARY
Under the authority of the Mistawasis Nehiyawak First Nation Personnel Policy, the Early Childhood Education Coordinator is responsible for providing, planning and developing early learning and childcare programs to meet the current needs of the education department at Mistawasis Nehiyawak. The programming will encourage and support the well-being of children by working with the children, their families, community elders and the community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead Mistawasis Nehiyawak early learning and education projects or programs
- Plan and develop early learning and childcare programs and services.
- Plan and support the development of Early Learning Centres
- Preparing and planning of educational documents and resources
- Prepare and provide ongoing program supports and data to ensure successful project delivery and administration
- Analyze data, identify trends, and support teachers to adjust instruction based on data
- Coach teachers on using high-quality, evidence-based assessments to determine the most effective interventions required
- Promote and encourage parental communication through family literacy programming to expand sharing the love of reading and lifelong learning
- Help teachers conduct student assessments and analyze student work
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor Degree in Education or Early Childhood Educator Level 3 or related discipline or equivalent experience
- Minimum two (2) years progressive experience
- Computer knowledge of Microsoft office programs
- Experience working within First Nations’ Schools and Communities
- Excellent communication skills (Verbal/Written); decision making skills
- Detail-oriented
- Independent self-starter
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in computer software applications
- Standard First Aid/CPR
- Must successfully complete Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
