Job Summary

Mistawasis Nehiyawak is seeking a competent, confident, motivated individual to fill the position of an Elementary Teacher at Chief Mistawasis Nehiyawak School, located in Mistawasis Nehiyawak First Nation, Saskatchewan. In this role, you will provide strong interpersonal skills, commitment to learning and teaching in project-based ways and provide an enthusiastic learning environment for students.

Job Duties

  •  Provide positive ways for classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of all students.
  • Plan and organize materials ahead of time.
  • Assess and document student learning daily.
  • Assess and maintain student progress and provide feedback to students and parents.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school related activities.

Qualifications and Skill

  • Bachelor of Education Degree and/or equivalent degree would be an asset
  • Positive professional/personal attributes
  • Flexibility in the workday is necessary to perform the required duties and responsibilities.
  • A security background check including both a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector check will be required
  • Valid Standard First Aid, CPR
  • Knowledge and understanding of First Nation Communities and their culture
