SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Iron Buffalo Centre, The Employment & Training Services (ETS) Coordinator will be the administrator of a quality validation process for the recommendation of clients for financial assistance based on case by case management through submissions of Client Activity Plans and Activity Budgets to the appropriate funding agency. In addition to client intakes we coordinate service delivery contracts with Training institutes for the coordination of specific training activities.

Employment & Training Services is an agreement to improve the employment opportunities for First Nations people enabling First Nations to participate in the Canadian economy providing Human Resources development programs to prepare for, obtain and maintain employment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Including but not limited to)

  • Responsible for the planning, supervision, and direction of the Mistawasis Employment & Training Program;
  • Administer, develop, and evaluate the program policy and guidelines;
  • Provide career and personal counselling services as required;
  • Provide and implement program procedures and delivery mechanisms as outlined in the program policy and guidelines (ex: selection process, payment procedures, etc.);
  • Conduct information and dissemination sessions and public awareness with respect to the program;
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and other documents as assigned;
  • Develop and maintain a database of recipients, applicants, and graduates of the program;
  • Liaise with trades, training and technical campuses;
  • Perform such other duties and responsibilities as are relevant to the role of the ETS Coordinator which may be amended by the Mistawasis First Nation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • An educational degree, or a degree of comparative nature; will also look at a combination of previous similar background education/work and related experience;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, and with other agencies;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Must possess good working knowledge of computer technology;
  • Understanding and awareness of local cultural milieu;
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle;
  • Requires strong human relations skills and the ability to work with people and students in conflict situations;
  • Ideally, be able to understand and/or speak the Cree Language
  • Knowledge and understanding of the First Nation Communities and their culture;
  • Problem solving skills;
  • Drivers abstract;
  • Accepted CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires minimum supervision, able to work independently and maintains a supportive and cooperative environment with colleagues.
  • ETS Coordinator must be able to work with a diverse population
